Happy #FieldStoryFriday from Autumn's crew at the Port of Tacoma! EarthCorps continues to advance restoration efforts at the Port of Tacoma, stewarding vital mitigation sites along the Puyallup River — a salmon-bearing waterway that connects to the Swan and Clear Creeks in the Lower Clear Creek habitat site. These tidal wetlands are home to countless species that depend on healthy, functioning ecosystems. Unfortunately, invasive plant species threaten these habitats and the salmon populations that rely on them. Through ongoing management and native plant restoration, EarthCorps is helping rebuild resilient, thriving wetlands that support salmon, native wildlife, and the health of our shared waterways. (fb)

Shout out to Lakeside School! Last Wednesday, 48 of their students went on field trip to Kubota Garden to remove invasive blackberry and ivy from the natural area. With planting events fast approaching, their efforts helped prepare the site for native plants. The CV Team adds: “It was exciting to see the kids put their energy into protecting the forest. A few students were even competitive about trying to remove the most ivy." The event ended with well-deserved hot chocolate to celebrate their hard work. Thank you Lakeside School! (fb)
