This inaugural World PPH Day offers reason for optimism. While postpartum hemorrhage remains the leading direct cause of maternal death globally, claiming ~70,000 lives annually, proven solutions already exist. A PPH care bundle (known as E-MOTIVE) trial, which included 210,000 women, demonstrated that early detection combined with timely treatment can reduce severe outcomes by 60%. Evidence Action's Accelerator is actively evaluating the evidence and cost-effectiveness of these PPH care bundles to determine how these proven interventions can reach the mothers who need them most.
