After a long day of work, Lee felt “off” while calling his granddaughters' mom, Erika, an emergency nurse at Atrium Health Navicent The Medical Center. Her instincts kicked in - she urged him to get to Atrium Health Floyd as soon as possible. That decision saved his life. Lee arrived showing signs of stroke. Within minutes, the team sprang into action. Treatment reversed his symptoms, and surgery followed. A second stroke during recovery tested his strength - but compassionate care, from nurses to nutrition staff, helped him heal. “All these people are making a difference in people's lives," Wright said. “I'm a walking miracle, and I attribute that to God and your people.
