The Historical Society sends a big THANK YOU to Silas Holmes of East Washington. Earlier this year Silas answered our call for someone to make a new sign for the District #5 Schoolhouse. When he heard about our need for help with a much bigger project, Silas again stepped forward and volunteered to donate his time, labor and craftsmanship to install two sets of replacement steel doors and frames at the museum. The new doors are now in and look great! Silas, we are sincerely grateful for your generosity and willingness to help. Thank you so much — we couldn't have done it without you! We also want to thank Lumber Barn in Bradford, who gave us a very generous break on the cost of the new doors, knobs and deadbolts. A special thanks to John Zink, manager James Strickland, and owner Doug Webb! Small, all-volunteer nonprofit organizations like ours survive on the generous acts of others. Whether donations take the form of volunteerism (time, labor, and expertise) or financial assistance — all go a long way towards helping us continue our goal of collecting, preserving, and sharing the history of Washington, NH. For that we remain very grateful. -Bill Mulcahy for the Washington NH Historical Society (fb)
