From the Archives: Summer at Vera Lloyd, Then & Now ☀️ In the summer of 1999, Vera Lloyd’s staff and youth came together for an activity program that included sports, crafts, “rap sessions,” and a trip to Six Flags. They even hosted an impromptu fish fry, now an annual Vera Lloyd event for the public. Fast forward 25 years, and that same spirit continues on our campus today. As highlighted in last week's Facebook post, our current Summer Enrichment program offers a balance of fun, learning, and personal growth—with hands-on work experiences, life skills workshops, and field trips. Even better, the residents now have their own basketball gym where they participate in tournaments and rec games away from the heat of the sun. (fb)

🌞 Summer Enrichment 2025 Is Here! 🌞 During June and July, Vera Lloyd’s Summer Enrichment program helps residents grow their skills, explore career options, and enjoy a safe and empowering break from school. With programming every Tuesday through Thursday—and field trips on Fridays—this summer is packed with fun and opportunities including: - Workforce exploration using culinary, cosmetology, and driving simulators. - Community volunteering (with pay, thanks to our campus work program) - Financial literacy activities—including a fun career simulation game that links jobs to lifestyle realities. - Before and after program assessments to help youth see how far they’ve come. - Guided recreation time to help them explore their interests and learn about themselves. #veralloyd #summerenrichment #WorkforceDevelopment #youthempowerment (fb)
