WARBIRDS IN REVIEW 2024 REMEMBERING JAMES E. ROHLF Veteran Warbird airshow pilot James Rohlf died Monday, August 11, when his North American T-28B Trojan went down near Monticello, Iowa. Emergency crews found the aircraft destroyed and Rohlf dead. The FAA and NTSB are investigating. Jim loved aviation as much as he loved farming. His passion for flying began in high school and lasted his entire life. He logged over 12,000 flight hours and received the Wright Brothers Master Pilot Award. In the early 2000s, he bought his first Warbird, a North American T-28, which sparked a strong interest in acquiring and flying more Warbirds. He attended formation clinics with the North American Trainer Association, performed as a demonstration pilot with the Trojan Horsemen and Trojan Thunder, and founded the Aviation Heritage Foundation.
