Academy of Prosthodontics

The Academy of Prosthodontics is the oldest specialty organization in the field of prosthetic dentistry, dedicated to advancing prosthodontic education, research, and clinical practice. It was established as the National Society of Denture Prosthetics (NSDP) and later underwent a name change in 1991 to better reflect the broad scope of treatments provided by prosthodontists.

Founded before its name change to the Academy of Denture Prosthetics in 1940, the organization has a rich history dating back further. The Educational and Research Foundation of Prosthodontics was established at their 1960 meeting and was later superseded by the Academy of Prosthodontics Foundation in 1991.
