We are pleased to announce that Orangutan Foundation International’s very own Founder & President, Dr. Biruté Mary Galdikas, has been named this year’s recipient of the Explorers Club Medal. The Explorers Club Medal is the Explorers Club’s highest honor, given to those whose life’s work and scientific contributions betters humankind’s understanding of the places we have been, the places we are, and where we could be. The Explorers Club is an internationally renowned, cross-disciplinary guild dedicated to promoting scientific exploration and discovery. Previous recipients of the Explorers Club Medal are Dr. Mary Leakey for the Leakey Family, Sir Edmund Hillary, Former US President Herbert Hoover, celebrated astrophysicist Dr. Neil DeGrasse Tyson, and astronaut Neil Armstrong.
