We're proud to celebrate this important milestone for the Center for Metal Arts. With $6.2 million raised, this project will stabilize and renovate historic former Cambria Iron Works buildings, including an 1864 octagonal blacksmith shop that dates back to the heart of the Industrial Revolution. The building is one of only two National Historic Landmarks honoring America’s steel industry. "Pittsburgh Gateways Corporation board member Robert Meeder said his organization’s focus on the adaptive reuse of historic landmarks made it natural to get excited about helping the Center for Metal Arts preserve former Cambria Iron and Bethlehem Steel properties." Center for Metal Arts offers beginner through advanced forging workshops in state-of-the-art facilities and provides specialized tools and equipment for each student. Students travel from across the globe to Johnstown to take lessons with masters in their crafts. (fb)
