Meet Jennifer Reviea, Peer Support Trainer & Educator at Rogue Retreat, whose story shows how perseverance and purpose can transform even the hardest beginnings. Originally from Cave Junction, Jennifer grew up in what she describes as a dysfunctional and toxic home. “Both of my parents were alcoholics,” she says. “There was a lot of domestic violence, and I thought all of that was normal. But I realize now that in reality, it wasn’t.” Cave Junction was beautiful but isolated, and drugs were everywhere. Those early experiences set the stage for her struggles with addiction. Jennifer's addiction began when she was 13 years old, using multiple substances. "You name it, I was probably using it,” she recalls. Her journey included loss, relapse, and years of trying to get clean. “I went through treatment five or six times before it stuck,” she says. The turning point came after the sudden passing of her youngest child’s father and losing custody of her two oldest children. “The day after my son’s first birthday, I just couldn’t do it anymore. I wanted something different. I was ready.” She entered treatment and stayed as long as she could — ten months inpatient, followed by intensive outpatient and transitional housing. Eventually, she found her way to Rogue Retreat. “I just kept hearing about Rogue Retreat everywhere in Medford,” she says. “When I took the Fundamentals of Peer Support class, I knew that’s what I wanted to do.” Jennifer started as a Peer Support Specialist at the Kelly Shelter, then joined the Street Outreach team before stepping into her current role as Peer Support Trainer & Educator. “My heart is on the front lines, but now I get to train the next generation of peer supports. That’s an incredible feeling.” 💫 Next month, Jennifer will be three years clean. She has now reunited with her youngest son and is rebuilding a relationship with her middle child. She’s also engaged to her fiancé, Alejandro — whom she met through Rogue Retreat — and says he continues to inspire her to be better every day. “It’s never too late to change.
