Workforce development is at the heart of MRC Industries’ mission to empower individuals with disabilities to reach their full potential. Our skill-building programs are designed to provide comprehensive support tailored to each individual’s unique needs and goals. One component of the program is community volunteering, which helps individuals explore interests, discover talents, expand knowledge, and develop skills so they can become integral members of their communities. Participants volunteer in various local organizations within Kalamazoo County. Recently, Workforce Development Coach John Tidd took Eric, Jon Tommy L and Tommy to Kalamazoo Loaves & Fishes to work the phones in the call center. All of the food pickups and deliveries for Kalamazoo County are scheduled through this call center making it a crucial part of KLF’s day-to-day operations. Eric and Jonnie are call center “veterans” and on this day were mentoring Tommy R and Tommy L. KLF Volunteer Coordinator Jillian Bryant says “Working with John, training him and then having him train the volunteers has been monumental!” She added, “This allows our staff to get other things accomplished and fills our huge need for volunteers.” We’re so proud of John, Eric, Jonnie, Tommy L and Tommy R for their hard work and dedication to such a great cause.
