Class of 2025 Spotlight: Hannah Yarnall Future Plans: Internship teaching kindergarten at Covenant Classical Christian School (NC), then studying elementary & special education at Geneva College "When I came to Veritas in first grade, I didn’t know what to expect. There were only eleven of us. I remember being overwhelmed with feelings of excitement, joy, fear, and yes, even shyness. Ever since then, God has used Veritas in my life in more ways than I could have ever imagined. I count this school and education as a blessing. From class discussions, to crazy Veritas traditions, to the amazing teachers - who poured their time into my education - all of it has helped shape me over the last twelve years into the person I am today. "I am beyond grateful for my teachers’ willingness to sacrifice their time and energy to enhance my education. I am grateful to the Lord for His continued grace and mercy in my life. Thank you to my family for your ongoing support and continuous encouragement in everything I do. I would not be where I am today without my family’s support. I would also like to thank Mrs. Forbes for all her encouragement, guidance, and gentle pushing to strengthen my abilities in math. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here at Veritas and cannot believe it is already over! "During my time at Veritas, I have participated in cross country, six years of volleyball, the Pride and Prejudice production, Advanced Chamber Ensemble (ACE), basketball, and I even coached Veritas’ grammar school volleyball team for two years. Over the past two years, I’ve enjoyed getting to know the younger students through helping out in first, second, and third grades. "Some of my favorite Veritas memories include: Shrove Tuesday, Pokenberry Falls, Mrs. Forbes’s math and Omnibus classes, Veritas field trips, the countless dances, and teaching volleyball to the grammar school kids. But, if I had to choose one favorite memory from my Veritas experience it would be the time in Literature class when Mr. Dennis confused me with someone else from my class and thought I was dyslexic for the entire year. "In the fall, I will be teaching Kindergarten through an internship at Covenant Classical Christian school in North Carolina. Disciplining our kids can be hard. And in his word, in Hebrews 12 God even acknowledges that discipline can be unpleasant, while revealing that it not only marks us as true children, but it also produces a harvest of peace and righteousness. At Veritas, we are blessed with a Pastoral Team who supports our families by coming alongside them to discipline students with the goal of training them toward that maturity that leads to peace and righteousness. And one important thing that this team focuses on - and that we encourage you as parents to focus on when dealing with your kids (and their inevitable sin) at home - is RESTORATION, not RETRIBUTION. After all, the Gospel is all about our restoration into a right relationship with God, yes?
