Progress Report! We broke ground on Phase III of Cedar Flats Trails construction in late summer, and @mtmadetrails has completed TR10. While the trail isn’t ready for use yet, it will be accessible from Cedar Ridge Rd., next to the Northern entrance to Beargrass and Kelly Ridge area. It will connect with the remainder of future Phase III trails, which will be 15 miles total. The trail is cut in and about a week away from the finishing touches being complete. There are still hazards like roots, brush, and dry unpacked conditions. The trail will not be usable until it gets moisture and packing, as use in dry, unpacked conditions creates ruts. You’ve heard from a NICA coach and cyclists, our friends over at DREAM, legacy-maker Sarah Dakin, and trail builder Darren, and now we want to offer a final behind-the-scenes look at Gateway to Glacier Trails. Meet me, Amanda (hi!), the sole employeee of G2GT, and our Board President, Sam. We wanted to share with you why we do what we do, why it matters, and how you can be part of it. Gateway to Glacier Trails has seen explosive growth in our projects over the last few years, and we love seeing our community enjoy these trail systems. Like I say in this video, we can’t do this work alone (and we don’t want to!) and invite you to be part of building and maintaining spaces that not only give our community a place to recreate, but will last for generations to come. With that, we extend a final invitation to support us (or your other favorite nonprofits!) in the Great Fish Communty Challenge by this Friday, September 12, at 5 p.m. We’ll see you out there. (fb)
