For nearly ten years, The Peace Center of Connecticut, Inc. has turned compassion into action—championing non-violence, nurturing dialogue, and lifting up voices committed to a more peaceful world. Effective June 30, the Peace Center will conclude its operations. Reduced funding makes it necessary to close this chapter. The story of peace we wrote together will endure. To everyone who invested your time, treasure, and love—thank you. Board members who guided us with wisdom and conviction. Volunteers and interns who showed up early, stayed late, and proved that small acts create big change. Thank you to the members of the Youth Peace Alliance who believed in our vision, embraced our purpose, and committed themselves to transforming not only their own lives but the lives of their peers. Your dedication to peace, growth, and accountability was inspiring. Many of you returned to revisit our shared values, ensuring the message remains strong—and today, you continue to serve as Peace Ambassadors, lighting the way for others. To the families we served—thank you. To the parents, the youth, and the members of the community who placed your trust in us, we are deeply grateful. Walking alongside you in times of challenge and hope was not just our mission—it was our privilege. Community partners who opened doors, shared resources, and stood shoulder-to-shoulder with us. Each Peace Hero who embodied our vision, mission, and values in your own communities. Your support helped dialogues flourish, and young leaders find their voices. Because of you, classrooms learned new conflict-resolution skills, families found resources, and neighborhoods felt a little more hopeful. Though our formal work ends, the spirit of the Peace Center now lives in every person we’ve touched. Today we are thrilled to, in partnership with the Darien CT Library, Stamford CT Senior Center and Darien Public High School launch the first cohort of the LINK Initiative. Students learning Spanish will participate in a three month engagement project with seniors from the senior center to support their learning of the Spanish language. The seniors will share lived experiences, cultural history, and expose students to spoken languages from several Latin American countries. One other goal is for the students and seniors to form meaningful, supportive, and transformative relationships.
