Experiments in Live Editing: Video Mixing Stop-Motion explores the possibilities of DIY hardware controls, such as classic gaming buttons, sliders, and joysticks, as mechanisms for live-editing animated films. During this 25-minute performance, puppeteer and filmmaker Zach Dorn will live-edit a version of his newest animated film with a custom built DIY video mixer. The video mixer, built specifically for film, utilizes analog movements to highlight the physical hands-on process of Dorn’s stop-motion animation. Original music for the live event is composed by Domotic. In this online workshop led by artist Carrie Sijia Wang, learn about how text-based AI works, experiment with data, and build chatbots that reflect your thoughts and challenge how AI is usually used! These workshops aim to encourage participants to co-construct a clearer understanding of text-based AI, and empower them to engage in informed conversations around how AI technologies continue to take shape. This is a five day online workshop for young artists (ages 14–20) who live in Los Angeles or Fort Worth and are interested in exploring AI chatbots and their impact on society.
