We had a WHALE of a time last week with Seacoast Science Center and their giant whale, Katahdin!🐋 The children at our Emmaus Family Shelter had the opportunity to uncover fun facts about Katahdin, such as identifying what kind of whale she is, and even got to view real whale bones! After the fun, the Emmaus children were given goodie bags filled with educational toys to further their interest in science.🔭⚗ Thank you so much to Roberta and the Seacoast Science Center for providing such an informative and exciting activity for the children who call Emmaus "home!" Emmaus has been monitoring the heat index reports and is coordinating with our community partners (City of Haverhill Mayor's Office - Official, Haverhill Police - Official, Community Action, Inc. Drop-In Center, and Common Ground Cafe) to ensure that those experiencing homelessness have a place to go to stay cool. Mitch's Place, our individual shelter, will open at 4 p.m. today, Wednesday 6/25. We will continue to monitor the weather and make additional schedule modifications if needed to keep people safe. In addition, we are requesting donations of water for our guests to stay hydrated! We would be grateful for any donation of water bottles or gallon jugs to distribute throughout our shelters.
