Events Latest Press Releases The Uyghur American Association UAA strongly condemns the Thai governments deportation of at least 40 Uyghur men to China. This shocking and inhumane act directly violates international law and Thailands obligation under the principle of nonrefoulement which prohibits the forced return of individuals to a country where they face persecution torture or worse. Today marks the 28th anniversary of the Ghulja Massacre a tragic event in which the Chinese government violently suppressed peaceful Uyghur demonstrators who were courageously protesting against religious repression cultural erasure and systemic discrimination.
