This lucky Penny is priceless 🐶🍀 Last November, an NYPD detective responded to a shocking call that led him to the back of an apartment building in Brooklyn. There, he discovered a 6-month-old pit bull puppy in a zippered bag, malnourished with a bad skin condition. The poor puppy was rushed to the Veterinary Emergency Group (VEG ER for Pets) and was transferred to the ASPCA the following day. The puppy, whom was later named Penny, was suffering from severe pyoderma (a bacterial infection) and demodectic mange (a mite infestation), and only weighed 13 pounds. Despite her rough start, Penny was so full of love. She was prescribed antibiotics and medicated baths to help her skin heal and soon enough, she was ready to find her fresh start. Penny was transferred to our partner, The Good Life Dog Rescue (GLDR), for other opportunities to find a loving home. Christine H. has a long history of fostering pups from organizations all across New York City, including the ASPCA and GLDR. She had recently lost her last adopted foster, Jackson, after 14 years and was ready for a new companion. When it was suggested that Penny may fit the bill, that was all the convincing Christine needed! Penny came over for a weekend and never left. Penny, now 30 pounds, is an absolute lap dog who will lie across Christine's lap until her feet go numb. She's super friendly with people, loves playing with other dogs at the park and is a cherished client at doggie daycare.
