Kalihi is one of the areas that shifted most to Trump in the US Presidential election, but it also helped Ikaika Hussey, an #OurHawaiiPledge candidate, defeat an incumbent from a powerful political family and win the general election with 2/3 of the vote. The status quo politics of both parties have failed to deliver the scale of solutions local working families in Hawai‘i need and deserve. Working people are desperate for change. Luckily, there is a growing group of legislators that are rejecting the status quo, swearing off corporate and special interest bribes with the #OurHawaiiPledge, and charting a new way. If we as local people can come together across our differences, we can win a Hawai’i for the rest of us, not just the rich. (fb)
