Rose Jaffe is a muralist, illustrator, AOB alum, and member of the very first cohort of our Apprentice Program (formerly known as Pour Your Art Out). When Rose Jaffe worked with Arts on the Block over the summer in high school, it was her first introduction into public art. It also gave her some fundamental skills needed to thrive as a working artist like portfolio reviews and interview practices. "I really wasn't getting that from any other program," the mural painter and art teacher tells the Washington Post. Almost twenty years later, Rose has a thriving mural business. She credits the job training skills in addition to the exposure and experience making public art in part to the direction she took her career and her success. “At AOB, we did it all. There was the making of the art, the conceiving art, and the production of it," she says.
