Envisioned by Massachusetts-based artist Rachel Carey-Harper in 1990, the Clothesline Project gives survivors of gender-based violence a tool to tell their stories through words and art. More than 700 people have created shirts for the Survivor Empowerment Center, and we will be displaying some of them throughout southern Illinois as part of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. (fb)
