If passed, the Imports Bill would enable the closure of this loophole, preventing more dogs from being put through the cruel procedure. 👉 The Bill covers all cosmetic mutilations, such as cropped ears, docked tails and declawing of cats. 👉 The Bill would also clamp down on illegal smuggling of puppies and kittens. 👉 The Bill specifically targets unethical breeders and smugglers. By reducing the number of animals that can be brought into the UK to five per vehicle, the Bill puts individuals transporting numerous animals under greater scrutiny and will stop them moving large numbers of animals in poor conditions. 👉 The Bill does not place restrictions on the majority of pet owners, or rescues, travelling with their own animals, provided they comply with existing pet travel rules.
