Great Big Green Week has been the perfect time to teach students and colleagues how they can make positive choices to tackle climate change and protect nature. 💚 ♻️ National Star in Wales teamed up with a local business, Frog Bikes - the lightweight kids' bike, to reuse unwanted coffee jars, transforming them into funky terrariums as part of their social enterprise activities. They grew many of the plants from seed before planting them up in the jars. The plan is to sell the terrariums in the future! A spokesperson for Frog Bikes said: "At Frog Bikes, we care deeply about sustainability – it’s built into everything we do, from designing lightweight, long-lasting bikes to reducing waste wherever we can. That’s why we were thrilled to donate our used coffee jars to students at National Star in Wales, who gave them a brilliant new lease of life by turning them into terrariums as part of their social enterprise project. Louis joined National Star in Hereford with a clear ambition - to meet new people, gain work skills and grow in confidence. Through our Work Outcomes programme, he achieved qualifications in employability, improved his Maths and English, and practised his travel training in Hereford with support from staff. Today, one year after leaving college, Louis is thriving. He’s completed three independent placements and volunteers weekly at ECHO, where he’s now a presenter, producer, and mentor to others starting their journey. He’s helped shape fun features like National Repeat Day and contributes creative segments to the show. 🎶 “Everyone gets on, and we make each other laugh. It’s the best part,” says Louis.
