History
Founded in 1839 by a group of actors led by Charles Dickens, the Fund was originally established as the General Theatrical Fund Association. It was initially aimed at addressing the hardships faced by many in the acting profession. The organization was incorporated under two Royal Charters: the first granted in 1853 during the reign of Queen Victoria, and the second in 1974 by Queen Elizabeth II. This support from the Royal Family has been instrumental in its mission, and the organization is now under the patronage of King Charles III.
Mission and Activities
The Royal Theatrical Fund focuses on providing financial assistance without restrictive conditions to those in need within or retired from the entertainment industry. This includes individuals from various sectors such as ballet, opera, radio, and television. The organization awards grants to assist with medical expenses or to support those unable to work due to circumstances beyond their control. It is part of Acting for Others (The Combined Theatrical Charities Appeals Council) and has assisted thousands of individuals and families over the years.

The organization is led by Chairwoman Samantha Bond, with Sharon Lomas MBE serving as the Chief Executive Officer and Joel Marvin as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer. Sue Basten is the Welfare Advisor, ensuring that support is directed effectively towards those needing it.

Donate Donate Providing support to those that are unable to work due to illness injury or in their twilight years. More info Donate Now I just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU for the grant and all the support you have given over the last three months. Its very easy to feel alone as a selfemployed actor especially when injuries happen and your help really is appreciated whilst Ive been dealing with this fractured ankle.
