A Local Mother’s Story “I’ve got four children altogether, three were born at Pembry and my youngest at Crowborough and the difference is honestly incredible. Pembry is a hospital, so naturally it feels clinical, but for me it was more than just the surroundings. The whole approach felt very medical and, at times, quite forceful. When you’re in labour you need kindness and reassurance, and I didn’t always feel that with my Pembry births. Crowborough, on the other hand, was the complete opposite. From the moment I arrived it felt calm, relaxed and genuinely empowering. The staff treated me like a person, not a patient. Everything was explained, nothing was rushed, and I felt fully supported throughout. The aftercare was worlds apart too. At Pembry I was sent home almost immediately after giving birth each time. At Crowborough I was encouraged to stay the night. They brought me tea and toast and made sure I felt ready and cared for before heading home. I would tell absolutely everyone, even first-time mums to choose Crowborough. It was the most empowering birth experience I could imagine, and if I had to do it all again, I’d pick Crowborough every single time.” (fb)
