RSPCA East Berkshire

A local self-funded charity specializing in adoptions and rehoming of cats and kittens. We also support the RSPCA Inspectors and the public to improve the welfare of cats and dogs in the East Berkshire area. We are the local Maidenhead and East Berkshire branch of the RSPCA. Our key aim is to find suitable homes for as many animals as possible and to provide proper care for those which have been mistreated or abandoned. In addition, we promote the works and objects of the National Society. We rely purely on the effort of volunteers who provide invaluable support.

RSPCA East Berkshire Branch

Overview

The RSPCA East Berkshire Branch, registered as a charity with the number 251481, is a local extension of the Royal Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (RSPCA) in the United Kingdom. The branch operates in Maidenhead and covers the broader East Berkshire area. Its primary objective is to find suitable homes for animals in need and provide necessary care for those that have been mistreated or abandoned.

Activities

  • Cat Rehoming: The branch specifically serves as a rehoming center for cats and kittens. They provide a variety of cats ready for adoption, ensuring that all animals are neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated before rehoming.
  • Fostering and Animal Welfare: The branch promotes animal welfare by encouraging potential adopters to consider their lifestyle before taking on a new pet. They also offer activities such as fostering and cat cuddling to help socialize animals and prepare them for new homes.
  • Community Engagement: Activities like fundraising are crucial for continued support. The branch also conducts home checks to ensure that the animals are going into suitable environments.

Purpose and Mission

The RSPCA East Berkshire Branch is part of a larger organization that strives to prevent cruelty to animals, promote kindness, and alleviate animal suffering. The branch works towards these goals by engaging with the local community and supporting national initiatives.

Structure and Governance

The branch is managed by a committee of volunteers who are elected locally. This governance structure helps ensure that decision-making is reflective of local needs and priorities.

National Connection

As a part of the national RSPCA network, the East Berkshire Branch aligns its mission with that of the national organization. The national RSPCA, founded in 1824, is one of the world's largest animal welfare charities, working to promote harmony between humans and animals.

Interested in adopting a cat or a kitten. Adopt An Animal Bringing an animal into your home can be one of the most rewarding experiences in life particularly if adopting from an animal rescue centre. Animal welfare is at the heart of the RSPCAs work and as such we want all potential owners to give considerable thought to the kind of animal they wish to adopt and whether it will fit into their existing lifestyle. Could you possibly give oneof our animals a loving home.
