Hope and Healing for Ukrainian Refugees In Bălți, Moldova, God’s people continue to serve Ukrainian refugees—not just with humanitarian aid, but by presenting the living hope found in Jesus Christ. Every Saturday, around 30 refugees gather for Bible studies led by SGA-sponsored church worker Yuri Tanin, his wife Yulia, and a young couple from their church. No aid is handed out at these meetings—just the truth of God’s love, mercy, and the power of forgiveness. Yuri shares: ‘This is a special issue for Ukrainians who have lost loved ones, homes, jobs and are separated from their families. Forgiveness is necessary so that hatred will not destroy them from within. We wish them to come to understand that they can have a living hope in Christ.' Many are now coming to Sunday services, and at two recent outreach events, over 200 people heard the Gospel and received food packages. Building for the Kingdom A New House of Prayer in Siberia Stating that in Krest Khakut it’s as cold as ice would be an understatement as temperatures in this northerly part of Yakutia, Siberia, can drop to -50 as winter lasts from September to May. But it’s not too cold for the word of God to penetrate the hearts and minds of those who live there. Thirty years ago, God planted a church and a decade later, having previously met in people’s homes, the believers in Krest Khakut bought an old building to meet in, from where they took the Gospel to nine other locations, some as far as 250 miles away. While the church has grown, the building has become increasingly dilapidated. This year, with funds from SGA, a new House of Prayer is being constructed - one that will help ensure that the fire of the Gospel continues to burn brightly in the freezing north of Siberia. (fb)
