OBOE VACANCY: Haslemere Symphony Orchestra has a vacancy for an oboe. This includes opportunities to play cor anglais. For a suitably qualified player, there is also the opportunity to play as a soloist in a future concert if they wish. The Orchestra rehearses on most Monday evenings 7.30-10pm from September to May at Haslemere Hall, GU27 2AS, and gives four main concerts in Haslemere per year. We cover a wide repertoire; three of the concerts include both orchestral and choral works where we work with HMS’’s own Chorus. We would expect the successful candidate to make a regular commitment to the orchestra. There will be a short informal audition with James Ross, the Society’s Music Director (two short contrasting works or orchestral excerpts - c 4-5 minutes maximum total, and some standard repertoire sight reading), followed by playing in a tutti rehearsal at Haslemere Hall in September.
