Providing a volunteer lifeguard service on Southsea beach from May through September. Supported 100% by your donations. The aims and objectives of the Portsmouth & Southsea Voluntary Lifeguard Club are to train competent swimmers in the RLSS method of life-saving/lifeguarding, provide an inshore rescue boat service and to guard the local beaches to render them safer for bathers and boat users.

As we kick off the season, we want to inform you that we are currently flying the red flag due to poor water quality. Additionally, visibility at the beach is quite low, as shown in our HQ picture. You can find us up on the promenade, where we invite you to stop by, check out our merchandise, or simply say hello. Main Navigation Portsmouth Southsea Voluntary Lifeguards Founded in 1933 Portsmouth and Southsea Voluntary Lifeguards is a beach lifeguard club based on Southsea seafront in Portsmouth Hampshire. We are proud to be the oldest Lifeguard Club in the UK and are independent of the RNLI. Southsea is a popular beach stretching from Old Portsmouth to Eastney. The beach is mostly shingle and slopes quite rapidly into the sea.
