We opened our doors to the public for the first time in over a decade for Open House Festival 2025! 👀 ✨ Welcoming more than 2000 visitors to our home, 113 Chancery Lane, we celebrated 200 years of rich history and showcased the impact of solicitors past and present. From architectural wonders to stories of legal pioneers through the ages, visitors glimpsed into civil society of centuries past and explored the vital role of solicitors in shaping modern society. ⚖️ 💡 Here's one of many fun facts that you might not know about our home at 113: the railings outside our entrance, added in 1903, display our famous lions. But they were originally designed for the British Museum! Part of the railing also had to be restored in 1961, as it was used for scrap metal during World War II. For solicitor apprentice Lauryn Hellewell, entering the profession did not begin with university. "I never really liked the idea of going to university full-time," she says. "As much as I enjoyed classroom learning, I found myself needing context to aid my understanding." 👏 Recently qualifying as a banking and restructuring solicitor, Lauryn reflects on the opportunities her apprenticeship at Muckle LLP gave her: "For me, it was never about my capability; it was about how I got there in a way that best suited my needs, and the solicitor apprenticeship route allowed me to do this. ⭐ "I knew I wanted to become a solicitor, so it made sense to begin training and gaining valuable work experience as soon as I could." Reflecting on Level 7 apprenticeship funding cuts Lauren says, "It’s disappointing to see cuts being made for those starting an apprenticeship over the age of 21. "Many people may not consider law an option until after this age because it isn’t widely taught at A-level or they don’t consider law available to them."
