A fabulous time cask racing yesterday at the Guildhall with school colleagues and a Sixth form team at the annual Cooper’s Livery race. There were 20 teams competing in hot conditions, we were so glad to be able to celebrate our history and connections with the heart of the city. #LasB (fb)

This Saturday the school will again be entering two teams into the annual Cask race organised by the Worshipful Company of Coopers, a thrilling and unique event in the heart of the City of London. This spirited competition sees teams barrel-rolling their way across the historic Guildhall Yard, embracing the fun, tradition, and fellowship of Livery life. 26 teams have entered from fellow livery companies, Coopers Company & Coborn School, Strode’s College and their uniformed affiliates in St John Ambulance, HMS President and the Household Cavalry Regiment and not forgetting a team of Yeoman Warders from the Tower of London. Spectators are welcome to join and cheer on the participants while soaking up the vibrant atmosphere of this quintessentially City event. Practices start at 8:30am, with the races starting at 9:30am. The casks will be blessed by Liveryman Rev. Canon Martin Poll before racing commences which will be started by the Lady Mayoress who will also be found in a team this year.
