A series where we are sharing lovely pictures of the garden experience, along with some information - often historical in nature - on our popular plants. 8. Pear The pear is a member of the rose family. It was introduced by the Romans. Two varieties have been enjoyed at King John’s House garden, the Jargonelle and the Black Worcester. Closed due to serious fire Statement The fire at King Johns House and Museumin theearly hours of23rd Februaryhas been ahugeshockfor the museum staff trustees andthelocalcommunity. We are very relieved that no one was injured but there is extensive damageto one ofRomseys most historic buildings. King Johns House and Museum will require a huge amount of work to make the site safe clear up the damage and assess the way forward. Updates will be posted on our websiteand social mediawhen we have them.
