She was able to face into the final few weeks of her life with such grace and a level of calmness.” – Paul Paul is sharing the story of his wife Rachel as part of our Light Up A Life appeal. Rachel was diagnosed with a rare cancer in 2020 and came to our Inpatient Unit in 2024. Paul said: ✨“That time at the Hospice was precious because Rachel and I were able to talk about what she wanted for our kids and for me. The conversations we had will stay with me forever.” ✨“In Rachel’s final weeks, the nurses helped us to manage visits so that they wouldn’t be upsetting to the children. They saw Rachel when she was the most awake and able to interact. It wouldn’t have been possible in hospital. We’re delighted to be Watford Philharmonic Society's first charity partner. The society will begin collecting donations for the Hospice at its performance of “Brahms – Ein Deutsches Requiem” on 8th November at the Grand Hall, Bushey Academy. Watford Phil member Judy explained why the musical ensemble is partnering with us. "Several of our members have cause to feel immense personal gratitude for the Hospice’s dedication, skill and compassionate care extended to patients and their families facing some of life’s most challenging circumstances,” Judy said. “Like the sublime Brahms Requiem, the Hospice is there to bring comfort at times when we need it most." 💜 The choir and orchestra perform up to five concerts every season and look forward to sharing more information about the Hospice’s work with their community. #Watford #HospiceCare #Brahms #Fundraising (fb)
