Today we present three works by Grayson Perry held in the Crafts Council Collection. Swipe through and explore, then visit the link in our bio to find out more. All three works are currently available for hire. 1.) A Perfect Match: one of a pair of tapestries designed and created for Grayson Perry's House for Essex project. This tapestry depicts the key events in the early life of Perry's fictional character Julie Cope: from her birth during the Canvey Island floods of 1953, through her teenage years in Basildon, to an ultimately doomed relationship with her first husband Dave. 2.) In Its Familiarity, Golden: In this tapestry Perry's fictional character Julie Cope takes control of her life and widens her horizons. She relocates to Maldon with her children and attends university in Colchester, where she moves in with her second husband, Rob. Together Julie and Rob share a profound happiness that lasts until her sudden and untimely death at the age of 61. It is this shocking incident that prompts Rob to build a ‘temple’ in memory of his beloved Julie – the shrine that Perry realised with his House for Essex. 3.) Mad Kid's Bedroom Wall Pot: A ceramic pot depicting nine people and featuring a poem by the artist, which reads: "I was a mad kid and now I ain't I did my 'ead in poster paint, I pinned it up above my bed by the photo of my dead pup, but after what my real dad said I took it down and tore it up. I was a mad kid and now I ain't. I got out 'coz I could paint." Visit https://bit.ly/43edMVp to discover more... (fb)
