We were recently invited to the Local Hero Awards at Allingham Lodge in Eastbourne, part of Churchill Retirement Living. Caroline Smith received a Local Hero Award and a £500 donation to a charity of her choice – generously choosing St Wilfrid’s! The award recognises inspiring over-60s making a real difference in their communities. A long-time supporter of St Wilfrid’s, Caroline has helped at our Open Gardens and hosted fundraising and awareness events. She also champions local live music, promoting both artists and venues. Caroline founded the ‘East Sussex Social Friends Meet Ups’ group during the pandemic, which now has nearly a thousand members, helping people connect and make new friends.
