Huge thank you to all the team at Age UK Wandsworth for including our Wandsworth Community Transport Choir in their VE Day celebrations this week! It was such a lovely afternoon, a real celebration. The room was packed with guests all enjoying the festivities and our Choir loved doing one of our interactive singalong performances. What we made up in Choir numbers, we made up with enthusiasm! Thanks to our amazing choir leader Manuel Button for helping us learn some new songs specially for this event and for arranging song sheets for all the guests to sing along with! Brilliant Open Day, hosted by Manuel Button and Marcia at Wandsworth Shopmobility yesterday! We met some great new potential volunteers who'd all come to hear more about how they can help by just donating a couple of hours each week, to help older and vulnerable people get out and about to do their shopping and enjoy a chat and a cup of team. The local people who access our ShopMobility services are each collected from their homes by one of our 24 red and white minibuses and dropped off at our ShopMobility hub at the back of Sainsbury's, where they are paired with their volunteer - often the same people each week, which is great for building friendships. Even the Wandsworth Council Mayor of Wandsworth, Cllr Sana Jafri came and joined in the Open Day fun - plus she had the opportunity to go shopping and jumped at it - she went with Steven and Kelly, who are both registered blind; the support they get through our services ensures they retain more independence and have a great time getting out to do their own shopping through our ShopMobility service - our office is at the back of Sainsbury's Garratt Lane and we thank Sainsbury's for supporting us to deliver this vital service!
