All experienced wallers are invited to enter Friends of the Lake District Dry Stone Walling Competition which runs from 9am - 4pm on Sat 24th May. Entry: FREE for spectators and wallers alike. More info and entry forms here: (fb)
On Saturday 19th April, Dave Goulder - DSWA Master Craftsman, was formally presented with the British Empire Medal (BEM) by Lord-Lieutenant Major General Patrick Marriott in a special ceremony, attended by his family. Dave received the BEM in the King's New Year's Honours List in recognition of his outstanding contribution to dry stone walling and to the community of Rosehall, Sutherland. On behalf of everyone at the DSWA, we extend our heartfelt congratulations to Dave on this well-deserved recognition. (fb)

Preserving the landscape Part of our heritage for future generations Welcome to the Dry Stone Walling Association Welcome to the Dry Stone Walling Associations DSWA website which we hope you will find both informative and helpful. The main aims of the Association are to promote a greater understanding and knowledge about the traditional craft of dry stone walling and to encourage the repair and maintenance of dry stone walls throughout the country. The Dry Stone Walling Association has a network of branches across the country. Each one organises a wide range of activities throughout the year including training courses practice days and demonstrations at local shows and events.
