Today, the UK Government has sent a clear message: it is choosing not to stand with women and girls. At a time when women’s rights are under attack around the world, it is indefensible for the UK to end its support for gender equality. Tackling gender inequality is not ‘global charity’ – it’s a choice. Fundamentally, this step back from our commitments will make UK aid less effective with deadly consequences for women and girls worldwide. The Gaza strip is still facing a critical risk of Famine, according to a new IPC report released today. The IPC have found that 100% of the population is expected to face crisis or worse acute food insecurity between May and September this year due to the ongoing conflict and current aid blockade. This cannot continue. Israel MUST allow humanitarian aid to flow at scale, safely and unhindered into and throughout Gaza.
