The Barnes & Mortlake History Society. Monthly meetings from Sept to April; talks on topics of local history. See website for membership and programme details. We hold monthly lectures on aspects of local history. They are held in St Mary's Church, Barnes on the third Thursday of the month. Everyone is welcome. To promote the advancement of the education of the public by the study of local history in the parishes of Barnes & Mortlake, by recording and where appropriate publishing the results of such study. To collect and preserve documents,pictures and other relics relating to Barnes & Mortlake. Also by organising meetings,exhibitions and visits to places of historical interest.

Main Navigation Home page Upcoming Lectures 10042025 800 pm Pet Revolution Animals the Making of Modern British Life Location St Marys Parish Church Barnes Lecturer Jane Hamlett BMHS news The West London History Conference will take place on Saturday 5th April 2025 at Duke Street Church in Richmond. This years theme is Textiles and clothing in the history of South and West London and there will be a range of talks including one about Mortlake Tapestries and one about the invention of viscose in Kew. It promises to be a really interesting day. Tickets cost 15 and can be bought here.
