League of Friends League of Friends Since 1954 the League of Friends has been raising funds to support projects in the hospital as well as health care services within the local area. With the launch of the Stars Appeal as the hospitals official charity we now work alongside them with separate fundraising efforts to support small projects that make a big difference to patients visitors and staff. Established in 1954 the League of Friends is comprised of members of the general public who regularly donate into a fund managed by a Board of Trustees. An annual magazine as well as the news section of this site keeps members informed of the Leagues activities.
