1ST SHEET (ST MARY'S) SCOUT GROUP

The 1ST SHEET (ST MARY'S) SCOUT GROUP, with charity number 302272, is a UK-based nonprofit organization that focuses on promoting the development of young people. Established in 1954, the group operates within the Petersfield District in Hampshire, England.

Activities and Objectives

The primary objective of the 1ST SHEET (ST MARY'S) SCOUT GROUP is to promote the physical, intellectual, social, and spiritual development of young individuals. This is achieved by fostering a responsible citizenship among its members, both locally and internationally. The group's programs and activities are designed to provide a balanced and educational experience that helps young people achieve their full potential.

Sections and Programs

The group currently offers several scouting sections tailored to different age groups:

  • Beaver Colonies for children aged 6 to 8 years, which include Chestnut and Oak colonies.
  • Cub Packs for children aged 8 to 10½ years, featuring Adhurst and Broadlands packs.
  • Scout Troops for children aged 10½ to 14 years.
  • Additionally, they have an Explorer Unit for those aged 14 to 18.

These sections provide various activities and badges that align with the broader Scouting framework, emphasizing fun, skills development, and community involvement.

Operations and Governance

The group relies on volunteer efforts, with approximately 30 volunteers contributing to its operations. The organization is overseen by a board of trustees. As of the latest available financial reports, the group had a total income of £37,797 and expenditure of £29,368, with all charitable reporting up to date.

Events and Traditions

Key events include St George’s Day and Remembrance Sunday ceremonies, where participants are encouraged to attend in full uniform. These events reinforce the group’s commitment to tradition and community.

Financial Overview

The charity does not have trading subsidiaries, nor do any trustees receive remuneration from the organization. This structure ensures that resources are primarily dedicated to supporting the development and activities of young people within the scouting movement.

We currently have two Beaver Colonies Chestnut and Oak two Cub Packs Adhurst and Broadlands two Scout Troops and Rother Explorer Unit at any one time we have around 120 children coming to all of the sections each week. Our aim is to provide the children with many skills but most of all to have fun and learn things that they might not learn elsewhere either during the Section evenings or on Camps. Each Section has a range of badges to earn through balanced and educational programmes.
