A big congratulations goes to Year 11 pupil Thomas, who had the incredible opportunity last weekend to take to the skies as part of the British Young Pilots programme on offer here at Bethany. ✈️ Despite only having flown on a few commercial flights before, Thomas showed great courage as he took control of a two-seater Ikarus C42 light aircraft for over 20 minutes. Flying from Headcorn Aerodrome over Bewl Water and Tenterden before returning to Headcorn, reaching speeds of over 100mph and an altitude of nearly 3,000 feet! Thomas continues his pilot training every Friday at Bethany, learning the theory of flight and practising on Microsoft Flight Simulator. Well done, Thomas! 👏 (fb)

A huge well done to Year 9 pupil, Archie, who passed his Powerboat Level 2 License last weekend in Southampton! He was first inspired during a family holiday in Greece, when exploring the islands by boat lit a spark, and now he’s officially licensed! Next up for Archie is the Level 3 Advanced and we can’t wait to see him smash it! (fb)
