My special guest this week on 'Behind the Scenes at County Hospital' was Vanessa Nield. Over 28 years ago, Vanessa was working for a Stafford Engineering Company as Receptionist then applied to work at County Hospital as part of a very busy Reception Team. In those days, record keeping was 'paper based' and Vanessa was the junior member of the Team. 28 years later, Computers rule the workplace and Vanessa is the senior Team member. How things change ! Being the public face of County Hospital, Vanessa is perfect for this role - friendly, empathetic, informative, knowledgeable and she has 'the smile' - very important, and she loves meeting people. Away from work, Vanessa likes walking and accompanying dog walker friends; socialising frequently with plenty of Coffee mornings. Having holidayed abroad she now favours destinations a bit closer to home including the West Country and Wales. During our radio chat I played music selected by Vanessa which included songs by The Animals, Joan Armatrading, Rod Stewart and Crowded House. Thank you so much for being my guest Vanessa.
