It was a lovely afternoon for a stroll across the fields to Maggie and Jeremy's house. The children enjoyed picking apples from the tree and collecting them in the wheel barrow. Our next task was to wash all the apples and chop them into small pieces, ready to go into the Scratter, where they would be mashed. The apple pieces were then placed in the press, and we all helped turn the handle, watching the juice flow out. We tasted some of the apple juice, and it was delicious! Afterwards, we assisted Jeremy in putting all the leftover apple bits into his compost heap, which is a great way to recycle. The children then had a fantastic time rolling down a small hill before we made our way back. A big thank you to Maggie and Jeremy all the adults who helped; we had a wonderful time! (fb)
