Today The Newbury Town Mayor Cllr David Harman unveiled a plaque to France Belk or long time dance and drama teacher who produced 28 Pantomimes at Newburys Corn Exchange. Take a look at the plaque which is located on the wall of Chilis Indian Restaurant in Station Road, Newbury. The Mayor was joined by The Mayoress Mrs Ros Harman, the chairman of The Heritage Forum Anthony Pick, members of the Newbury Society, the owners and staff of Chilis restaurant to whom The Newburu Society is grateful for their consent to mount the plaque and people having known and worked with France Belk. Members of The Newbury Society this morning visited The Thames Valley Police museum at the Sulhamstead Police Training Centre. Members were welcomed by former Newbury Police officer Dave Stubbs who talked the group through the many and varied exhibits. Not least the actual monopoly board used by the Great Train Robbers whilst they were hiding at Leatherslade Farm. (fb)
