At the time of his diagnosis, his sons were only four, two, and six months old. “My children were a source of strength for me. When we told them about my diagnosis, we kept it very simple; Daddy is sick and needs to go to the doctor a lot. You might see him resting more. “My advice would be: be honest but age-appropriate. Keep explanations simple and clear, and stay calm and open, as kids take emotional cues from you. Listen actively, validate their feelings, and encourage questions. Most importantly, keep the dialogue going, not a one-time talk. And remember, you don’t have to do it alone; seek support if you need guidance, like the Macmillan Support Line.” Navi’s chemotherapy treatment left him feeling fatigued, and he found he wasn’t able to do as much with his children as he used to, however, they could play chess together. “That Father’s Day felt different.
