History Perranporth SLSC was founded on the 13th February 1957 by 10 volunteer members. Perranporth is one of the oldest Surf Life Saving Clubs in Great Britain. Several summer drownings at the beach in the early 1950s led to a public meeting in the town from which the lifesaving club was formed using a small beach hut on the sand as its first headquarters. The club now has a recently completed extension and improvements part funded by the National Lottery.
