Although it is now October, September is also known as ‘Black History Month’. Many people celebrate Black History Month to recognise the significant contributions of Black people and to combat historical racism by educating about their achievements in society, culture, and history. ❤️ We have researched a famous figure this afternoon in Squirrels...Martin Luther King. 💭 Martin Luther King was an American Baptist minister, civil rights activist and political philosopher who was a leader of the civil rights movement from 1955 until his assassination in 1968. 💔 His adoption of nonviolent resistance to achieve equal rights for Black Americans earned him the Nobel Peace Prize in 1964. He is remembered for his masterful oratorical skills, most memorably in his "I Have a Dream" speech.❤️ Squirrels have created their own ‘I have a dream’ poster. We discussed that it is important to treat everybody equally. We are aware of our protected characteristics.
