We want to wish a huge happy 88th birthday to our volunteer, Yvonne! She has been volunteering with Sue Ryder for 20 years and has turned up every shift, come rain or shine. Being offered support by a palliative care service like Sue Ryder's might feel like being told you’re dying. But did you know that palliative care doesn’t just happen at the end of someone’s life? It is usually offered to someone that has been diagnosed with a terminal illness, but it can happen early in your illness, at the same time as treatments that will help you live longer. It might be about easing distressing symptoms or making you feel more comfortable in your day-to-day life. But it’s also about the spiritual and emotional needs of you and your family.
