South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust Charitable Fund
The South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust Charitable Fund is a UK-based nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting mental health patients, their carers, and staff within the South West London area. Registered under charity number 1060944, the fund works to enhance mental health services by funding charitable initiatives that go beyond the scope of standard NHS funding.
Mission and Activities
The charity aims to improve care, support recovery, and assist in preventing mental illness by providing financial support to projects and initiatives that benefit mental health patients and their families. It focuses on creating more comfortable and welcoming environments in local mental health hospitals and providing additional resources and support for patients and staff.
The fund's efforts include financing special projects, patient and family support programs, and the transformation of mental health care facilities. It relies on the generosity of local communities through donations, events, and fundraising activities to fulfill its mission.
Notable Campaigns
In December 2024, the charity launched its first winter appeal called the ‘We Care Christmas Gift’ campaign. This initiative aimed to bring joy to patients who were in hospital wards during the festive season. By successfully reaching its fundraising target, the charity ensured that every inpatient received a Christmas gift on Christmas Day, spreading care and support during a challenging time of year.
Support and Donations
The fund encourages contributions from the public, which help sustain projects and events that make a real difference to the lives of mental health patients, their carers, and staff. Donations can be made through various methods, including bank transfers, cheques, and in person.
Governance and Registration
The South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust Charitable Fund is registered with the Charity Commission for England and Wales and maintains up-to-date reporting and governance standards to ensure transparency and accountability in its operations.
This charitable fund plays a vital role in enhancing mental health services in South West London by providing resources that support patient care and recovery beyond what is available through the NHS alone. Its community-driven approach helps to create a positive impact on mental health outcomes across the region.

As part of Mental Health Awareness Week, and in recognition of this year’s theme of community, we’re proud to share R-I-S-E: From Pain to Purpose – a short film made in partnership with the Metropolitan Police. 🎥 The film explores mental health, addiction, and recovery, and how powerful community can be in finding a way through. The film features Paul Dorrington, our Lead Employment Specialist, who shares his personal story with honesty and courage. 💙 Paul reflects on growing up on a council estate in South West London, where he became involved in gang culture and started using drugs at a young age. He shares how a relationship breakdown later triggered a serious mental health crisis, leading to a period of deep depression and psychosis, and eventually a hospital admission. But Paul’s story didn’t end there. It’s one of strength, healing and finding new purpose, including a role in the same NHS Trust where he once received care. 💬 “I knew without meaning or purpose, my recovery and stability would only take me so far.” Now, Paul supports others to find hope and purpose in their own lives. Through his work and public speaking, he’s helping people across the UK believe in recovery – and in themselves. “Recovery is not a destination... it’s living the life you want – home, job, family. The things most people take for granted.” 🗣️ In Paul’s words: “By sharing my story – the struggles and the turning points – I hope to help others facing similar challenges, or even stop someone else from going through it at all.” Watch the full video here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cDNtM1roFew (fb)
Mental Health Awareness Week meets International Nurses Day 2025 ❤️ We’re kicking off the week by shining a spotlight on one of our most inspiring nurses: Dr Rosemary Jambert-Gray, who is marking an incredible 50 years in nursing. What began as a short mental health placement in 1976 became a lifelong vocation. Today, Rosemary continues to make a powerful impact across our Trust, from leading reflective practice groups in the community to supporting services like the Mental Health Crisis Line, Perinatal Services, and more. Reflecting on her journey, Rosemary said: “Time spent with patients is what truly makes a difference – it always has, and it always will.” Her story is a reminder of the vital role nurses play, not just today, but every day in shaping the future of mental health care. Thank you, Rosemary, and thank you to all our incredible nurses who lead with heart, skill, and dedication. 📖 Read her full story here: https://swlstg.nhs.uk/latest-news/celebrating-50-years-of-nursing-with-dr-rosemary-jambertgray-2636 (fb)
